Girls, this is a story I want to always remember about your Dad. A fun story to tell your own children someday. When your Dad was young and Living in Ecuador as a missionary, He fell in love with these two little girls. He was only 22 and living for a year with a family in a far away place. He was homesick. Sometimes very homesick. That means everything there was so different from what he was use to. The people, the food and the language they spoke. He was learning Spanish and lived with a family that spoke no English. The missionaries that he worked for believed that the best way for him to learn the language was the hard way. None of the English speaking missionaries would speak to him in anything but Spanish. He was taking classes and that helped...but it was still hard. Sometimes he was sick from the food he ate...and would be very sick for weeks at a time. Guess what? He didn't quite. He didn't get on an airplane and come home. He decided to stay there and work really hard to learn and to be able to teach the Gospel in this far away place. The family had a lady that worked for them cleaning and cooking. Almost everyone had someone come in to do work for them. There were familes that were very poor and were glad to get this work so they could buy food for their own children. Sometimes this lady...we will call her a maid... brought her own two little girls with her to work. The first time they saw your Daddy they cried and ran away and hid. Guess what they called him?
